About Barton’s Tax and Accounting Service
William (Billy) Barton is the owner of Barton’s Tax and Accounting Service which serves small businesses in Raleigh, NC, the Triangle, and surrounding areas. A Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor with 35 years accounting and tax experience, Billy and his staff consistently “go the extra mile” for their clients by making their accounting and tax experience easy and stress-free. Billy has a solid track record of providing his clients expert accounting and tax knowledge that saves them money and helps them focus on their success and growth.
Billy’s accounting experience contains a nice mix of industry and public accounting service. His industry accounting experience includes stints with heavy manufacturing and construction companies where he did every accounting function you can think of, including a large dose of job costing. On the public accounting side, he owned and operated a Private Sector Umbrella company where he honed his deep tax knowledge. He also spent five years as a human resources manager, providing him with a unique perspective from other accountants when it comes to offering payroll services.
Barton’s Tax and Accounting Service currently serves clients in many industries, including services, retail, construction, real estate, restaurant, wholesale, and more. A sampling of our clients include groceries, HVAC, food services, child care, cleaning services, promotional products, residential appraisals, hardware, fitness, hot tubs, carpet cleaning, bars, and many more.
Billy has completed accounting classes at North Carolina State University and LaSalle Extension University. He also studied Marine Technology at Cape Fear Community College.
Billy lives in Clayton, NC with his wife. He has two children and one grandchild. When he’s not working, he’s likely watching NCIS, playing with his son’s pit bull, Nova, or planning a cruise to Alaska.
JoAnn has been with Barton’s Tax and Accounting Service since its inception and also worked for Billy for a decade in his Jackson Hewitt business. She has performed a mix of managerial, administration, and technical duties and currently performs bookkeeping, tax, and payroll for clients.
JoAnn’s favorite part of her job includes the friendships she has developed with her clients. She takes pride in listening to what each client needs and does the very best job possible for them. Her work history includes 16 years of experience with two CPA firms as well as one year doing accounts receivable work.
When JoAnn is not working, you’ll find her watching A Gifted Man or basketball on TV or cheering for the North Carolina Tarheels.
Linda Harrison is the Administrative Assistant at Barton’s Tax and Accounting. She enjoys working with numbers, doing payroll for clients, and answering clients’ payroll questions. She keeps everyone in the office organized by scanning and filing client documents. Keeping clients satisfied is the most rewarding part of her job.
Linda has 20 years of experience in bookkeeping and as an administrative assistant and has worked in numerous industries including food processing, manufacturing, transportation, and construction.
When she is not working, Linda enjoys walking, tennis, cycling, and her Pomeranian, Zoey.
